So, you want to work in event staffing?
Working in the hospitality field can be rewarding and fun. But, it is also hard work. For those new to working in hospitality and event staffing, there is a lot to learn. Here are a few tips for those that are interested in a career in event staffing:
Bring a great attitude: The best banquet servers and bartenders always have one thing in common; a can-do attitude. In a field that focuses on always keeping the customer happy, a big smile and a willingness to go above and beyond goes a long way.
Invest in uniforms: Appearance is everything. The best event staffing companies are sticklers on uniforms. The typical uniform is black slacks, long sleeve black button down, black belt, black dress socks and a long black tie. Spend the extra money and get your uniform tailored. Looking your best will lead to a happy client and to more opportunities to be booked on events.
Bring your tools: If you are scheduled to work as a banquet server or a bartender, there are tools that you need to bring to the job with you. Banquet servers should bring: a pen/pad, wine key and lighter. Bartenders should bring: bar key, wine key, shaker, jigger, strainer, lighter, pen/pad and a bar towel.
